- Glyndwr Wines
Established in 1982, Glyndwr Vineyard is the oldest established family run vineyard in Wales. Based in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, its 6,000 mature vines consistently produce award winning wines and this one is no exception.
- Welsh Aromatic White Wine 2005:
With overtones of Elderflower and Muscat grapes, this beautifully blended and unusual wine is produced from vines grown in the heart of the rolling Vale of Glamorgan countryside. The wine is carefully fermented from the fragrant Siegrebbe and Madeleine Angevine grapes, which results in subtle hints of honeysuckle on warm summer evenings.
- Medium Dry Welsh White 2004:
This full-bodied golden wine is bursting with character from fully ripe Seyval Blanc and Reichensteiner grapes. A long, smooth finish with appley and gooseberry flavours, makes this an ideal wine to be sipped on its owned or accompanied by fresh pasta or fish.
- Welsh Vintage Sparkling Wine (Methode Champenoise):
Fermented in the traditional method from ripe golden Seyval grapes, Glyndwr vintage 2003 is probably the finest sparkling wine to be produced by Glyndwr Vineyard. The summer of 2003 was exceptional, and this is reflected in the rich complexity of the wine. This classic brut has overtones of peaches and apricots and is reminiscent of those long summer evenings.
- South Africa
- Rickety Bridge
- Chardonnay 2004: Lemon, ripe orange and butter flavours with very subtle wooding event.
- Sauvignon Blanc 2006: Un-wooded wine, with green figs, tropical fruit and clean crisp acid.
- Shiraz 2003: Concentrated wine with white pepper, raspberry, cranberry fruit. Velvety mouth feel, can be consumed young if waiting is not an option.
- Paulina’s Reserve 2003: Flagship wine with intense soft black cherry and cranberry fruit, green pepper, lingering aftertaste and big soft tannins.
- Duncan’s Creek
- Chenin Blanc 2006: A classic, versatile, entertaining wine, with classic guava and ripe fruit flavours followed by an aftertaste of citrus.
Sherry
- Dios Baco Manzanilla 500mls
Manzanillas are made in the same way as a fino, but because it is made near the sea, the humid, salty air affects the taste and gives it a fuller flavour, with notes of apple and straw and a nutty finish. Drink well-chilled as an aperitif or with tapas such as prawns in garlic.
- Dios Baco Fino
Light golden in colour with a floral aroma and olive and apple flavours. Though dry, this is rich and round for a Fino with a soft finish. Serve well chilled as an aperitif or with a starter.
- Dios Baco Amontillado
This is a semi-dry sherry with an aroma of butterscotch and hazelnuts, a caramel colour and spicy flavour. Serve well-chilled, with smoky flavours such as mushrooms or glazed chicken, or cheeses like Manchego, Mahon or Cabra al Romero.
- Dios Baco Oloroso
A velvety medium-dry sherry with a strong, complex flavour: chocolate, caramel and roasted almond notes and a clean taste on the palate. Drink chilled or at room temperature with mature cheese such as an aged Manchego or Mahon, tapas dishes or desserts
- Dios Baco Cream
This is complex and on the dry side for a cream sherry, with caramel, dried fig and iodine flavours and a terrific finish with a lingering aftertaste of molasses and roast nuts.
- Dios Baco 'Oxford' Pedro Ximenez 750mls
A powerful dessert sherry, made with naturally sweet Pedro Ximenez grapes, combining raisins, liquorice, chocolate and burnt caramel with walnut and iodine flavours. Serve chilled or at room temperature with nut-based desserts, fruit cake or poured over vanilla ice-cream or cinnamon or nutmeg ice-cream.
