Local Beers - Appleford Brewery

Andrew Torrance has been brewing in the area for nearly 3 years at Brightwell-cum-Sotwell. He has lived near Abingdon for the last 17 years, and worked for Morland for 2 years until its closure, and thus had a knowledge of both the brewing and pub trade.

He has now bottled two beers and the mallt for the beer is made by hand by Warminster Maltings, their barley supplies come from British farms that have been growing malting barley for generations. The brewing process is very traditional with all the ingredients being mixed by hand, to ensure consistency and give character to the beer.

Added Ingredients: Appleford Brewery
  • Power Station, is a 4.2% abv traditional copper coloured malty bitter.
  • Brightwell Gold, is a 4.0% abv light golden ale, slightly hoppy making it an easy drinking beer.

The Dorset Crab Co., finest potted crab

Added Ingredients: The Dorset Carb Company

The Dorset Crab Company are located on the 'Isle of Portland' adjacent to the historic port of Weymouth in the midst of Dorset's world famous Jurassic coast. They are a wholly family owned business, producing this exquisite potted crab by hand in small batches using only crabmeat, butter and a secret blend of spices. All the crabs are fished from sustainable stocks and are landed nightly in Weymouth harbour before being picked prior to being potted. Potting was once a common method of preserving fish, meats and cheeses, and this natural process of gently cooking the crab results in this unique and truly delicious treat.

For a mouth-watering snack, remove from your fridge half an hour before eating and spread on hot toast. £2.95 for 60g pot.
